Cameras that can detect fevers are seeing a significant upsurge in demand outstripping supply as COVID19 pandemic continues to spread; it seems like the cameras will be coming to offices near you.
All around the world, millions of people are forced to stay at home to curb the spread of the novel pandemic ravaging many countries. However, a large number of people still need to go out to work in various industries like production and manufacturing, oil and gas, shipping, food preparation, and, of course, medical equipment, which are essential for the sustainment of any economy.
Governments and Companies are not leaving any stone unturned as they search for solutions that can swiftly detect from a larger population, high-level fever, which is a significant symptom of the coronavirus. This detection will ultimately sample out individuals who may need to undergo more tests to ascertain the underlying cause of the fever. The Fever detection cameras are high on the list with this technology as they can identify and detect high temperatures using thermal imaging technology.
For now, we can’t tell when a vaccine will be available, and people can’t stay at home “forever,” especially those who work in essential industries; they will need to find other ways to curb the spread of the virus while sustaining the flow of their working activities; one solution is the repaid use of fever detection cameras.
Until recently, one of the world’s most prominent experts in thermal imaging technology, FLIR, a US camera giant, reported that it is witnessing a global demand that outstrips their supply of its fever detection cameras as Government and business scramble for the solution to scan employees that might show symptoms of fever which is a crucial checkpoint for the novel coronavirus. Their CEO, James Cannon, went on to say, “ a lot of people can’t stay at home as they have to work, so whether it’s a medical organization that wants a crowd scan before employees enter the clinic, or a food processing business, they are demanding our thermal cameras in high numbers.” For instance, Emirates Airlines is now using FLIR fever detection cameras to can all traveling crew members and passengers heading to the United States and those coming from China.
Its also important to note that the new fever detection cameras cannot detect a virus or an infection instantaneously; however, they can check changes in skin temperatures as it occurs even around 32.18 degrees Fahrenheit. So for any business planning to move forward, this will be the new norm within the business environment.
Some experts at the World Health Organization and the FDA in the united states view that using the thermal screening along is not an adequate tool to detect the virus still needs to be paired with a thermometer to confirm the fever. More so, for a thermal image technology to be legally marketed for coronavirus detection, it will need to undergo a 501k clearance in the United States. Since the coronavirus has not been fully classified under the FDA, fever detection camera companies like Athena security and Dahua USA are recommending to their end-users and integrators to use the un-cleared devices with an FDA approved thermometer to detect high-level fevers amongst their workforce.
There is a new camera on the market that seems to be the only camera that can detect fevers, Dahua Thermal temperature monitoring solution. For it to successfully work optimally, it required a device components called a JQ-D70Z Blackbody, DHI-NVR5216-16P-I 16-channel NVR with Face Recognition and a DH-TPC-BF5421-T Thermal Hybrid Network Camera.
The business environment is changing, and this means that agencies and companies need to adapt to the ever-changing situation swiftly. At the same time, they ensure the health safety of their working environment. According to Grand view research, the Global thermal imaging market is projected to be around 6.5 billion dollars by the end of the year at a CAGR of 9.1%. Don’t Delay Protection.
